Yikes, better ship that DMX animation crash fix then!

Source Tools 2.6.2 works fine with Blender 2.77 for me. Did you follow the installation instructions on the website?

Valve export DMX files with a Maya plugin which they created. The best bet for working out why my exporter's DMX files crash the game is comparing a simple example from both exporters.

I've noticed this too. Even the simplest of animations crashes the game. With SMD support disappearing this is going to become a much bigger issue.

What would be useful is a very simple animation of a single bone bouncing up and down as written by Valve's own DMX exporter.

Wow, I can't believe that's never been supported! I've fixed it up now and the next release will support multi-file import. It will adhere to the "Bone Append Mode" setting, so make sure to set that to "Make New Armature".

I'm not entirely sure that *every* DMX feature is supported for Source 2. I'll have to do some testing!

It doesn't seem to cause problems. The problem must be something related to your lack of parenting (arf).

I suppose you'll need to use DMX for that, then.

DMX vertex animation is fully supported. This bug is caused by the export already having an armature and will be fixed in the next update.
