I'm trying to export a model with an advanced flex controller to Source 2. When I change flex controllers to "Stereo" it works in Source2. However, a combination controller like something in the TF2 sample file won't work anymore. For example a provided sample controller like this:

will result in Source 2 the "LipLOV" controller to be ignored and ModelDoc to generate controllers for RaiseChin and OpenLowerLip separately (without them being defined in the DMX file) that then control the flexes of the same name. Adding the:

"flexMin" "float" "0.0"
to the control (as is auto generated) doesn't change this.

Lastly, corrective shapes won't export to Source 2 either.

Any way this could be address to allow export of flex controllers to Source2? Thanks for any advice/help.

Did you adjust the Stereo Flex Balance Sharpness when exporting from Blender? Just for a test I set it to 100% and model doc then strictly only flexes the desired side. I normally use around 98% and it works ok. Also couldn't you just create separate left/right flexes in Blender, name them something, export them, define a stereo Morph Control in ModelDoc and then define MorphRules that assign your left/right flex to the stereo Morph Control you created? That way no changes would be needed in the Blender Source Tool, just more work later in ModelDoc.

For stereo flexes, can't you just set the "stereo" "bool" in the DMX file to "1" instead of "0" for the flexes in question? Works for me in Source 2 and I don't need the left/right prefix then. Also where did you get the information that corrective flexes are defined with "__"? I tried that out and Source 2 doesn't recognize that as a corrective flex, it just makes a separate controller with the two underscores in it.

Thanks for your reply. I defined the corrective flex with underscores. For example in my case it be "lippuckerer_lowerlipfunnler" to have a corrective flex applied when both "lippuckerer" and "lowerlipfunnler" is active. In Blender the corrective shape key works. When I generate the DMX, the corrective shape key is not listed as a controller (similar to how they are not listed in the TF2 DMX morph examples). However, after exporting it to Source 2, the corrective flex is created as a seperate flex controller and not automatically applied. When exporting with "simple" flex controller, the corrective flexes are also not exported correctly. For corrective flexes does the controller have to be advanced and something be adjusted in the DMX file? Thanks for any help!

My model has corrective flexes which work perfectly in Blender. However, when exporting the model with BleST the corrective flex is turned into it's own separate flex. Is there a special way I have to setup of the flex export for it to work? Thanks for any help!

I'm currently trying to convert character models from SFM to S2FM with Blender Source Tools. I got the model and rig to export properly and work in S2FM.

When I export the model with "Simple" flex properties they show up in S2FM and work. For left/right flexes I've just been manually splitting them apart in Blender and exporting them.

However, I'm trying to port a model that has a rather complex facial flex setup (FACS standard) where I can't just split all the flexes up. I know you can use the "advances" flex properties to import a flex controller .dmx file which then work in S2FM. I looked at the documentation on the Valve Developer Community site. I also looked at the example .dmx flex controllers in the source SDK for the TF2 models. I still can't make head or tails of it though.

The flex controller for the SFM model seems to be defined in the .qc file. Is there an easy way to just convert the flex controller information from the .qc file to a .dmx file that I can then use when exporting the model from Blender? I don't mind doing by hand, I'd just need a template for converting the information from the .qc file to the .dmx file.

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!
