Import DMX? I'm working with Valves HL2 citizens and they all seem to be SMD when decompiled, am I missing something?

I am having an issue with importing a human model, the shapekeys for their mouth opening to speak have some odd distorted vertices, usually up or down slightly more than they should be. Is there a way to get around this issue?
