You do know about the "Engine path" path, right? If set to a directory with StudioMDL, it should auto-detect which DMX version to use. Additionally, the QC itself might say ".smd".

Again, it should EXPORT fine, just not IMPORT. Also, Half-Life 2 was released in 2004, and I'd be very surprised if it does not use DMX. At least try before saying it won't work.

I'm not sure if I understand you right, but the Blender Source Tools (by default) don't import SMD normals. But exporting them should be fine. Either way, I know for certain it works with DMX.

64-bit computers save 32-bit programs (Steam) in Program Filex (x86) by default, and 64-bit programs in Program Files. 32-bit computers just save in Program Files.

Probably because you're using Crowbar, and as far as I know, it moves models to some weird place after compiling. But copy the compiling code output here when/after compiling.

Lying on the floor? Either export as Z-up, or add $UpAxis Y to the QC at the top.

See Source units? You already see them, though. One (standard) Blender unit = One Source unit. Maybe you mean see a Source model? Install the Source SDK (in Steam > Library > Tools). Not one of the "bases". Then import Steam/steamapps/common/sourcesdk_content/ /tf/modelsrc/player/class/parts/dmx/class_morphs_low.dmx. These models are Y-up, so set that when importing if you want. Now you'll (hopefully) have one of the Team Fortress 2 classes in Blender. Yes, Source things are generally much bigger than you'd expect.

If a parent of a bone is moved, it will move too, even if you don't animate it yourself.
