In that case... Check the console (in Source) for errors, regarding missing materials or not being able to load this or that texture as it doesn't exist.

A few trouble-shooting hints:
Are you using $CDMaterials in the QC, and are the materials in said folder?
Do you say texture name (scout_blue) in the materials, or path and texture name (models/player/scout_blue)? (You should use path and texture name.)
How much do the textures fill? (Source doesn't read textures above 64 megabytes or such.)

I have an idea what you're talking about: Decompiling without using a tool designed specifically for decompiling.

Double-click crowbar or crowbar.exe, depending on your Windows properties
Click the Decompiler tab in the top-left
Click Browse..., and select the model you want to decompile
Make sure Reference mesh SMD file is ticked on
Click Decompile MDL file in the bottom-left
You should now have SMD files of the model you just decompiled in a "decompiled 0.25" sub-folder of the model you decompiled
Open Blender
Click outside the splash screen
Click File > Import > Source Engine (.smd, .vta, .dmx, .qc)
Browse to the "decompiled 0.25" sub-folder of the model you decompiled
Double-click one of the SMD files
Done

Model creation involves compiling models. Model creation does not involve decompiling models.

Not really. What you want: A way to decompile models without using a model decompiler. That doesn't make sense.

If you can't figure out decompiling a model in Crowbar, why not just say so? That'd be easier for us both.

If you're talking about Crowbar... No, it's a model tweaking tool, not a modelling tool.
If you're talking about the Blender Souce Tools... No, it's a model making tool, not a model tweaking tool.

If you want to make changes to an existing model, just decompile it.

Because the Blender Source Tools are for creating models, which involves compiling them.
