Exporting deform bones only
Is there a way to export deform bones only? Basically I made a non-destructive rig using Rigify to use as the control rig, and the exporter is trying to export all 500+ bones.

That should be happening already. I'll look into it tonight. Is this a DMX export?

I work with .smd files to export, and "deform bones only" is there when I'm exporting a some animation like a smd file.:)

Really? Well, it's an SMD export, and I'm using 2.72.

Are you exporting an animation? All bones are exported in that case, as it's not possible to tell whether a mesh somewhere, potentially in a totally different file, uses them as bone parents.

This shouldn't be a problem in-game as studimdl will automatically cull bones that aren't used in the compiled model.

Yeah I'm exporting animation stuffs...the thing is I'm not compiling it for Source, I need to import the animations into Max to export to another format (yeah it's a weird workflow.)

I guess I could try to delete the unnecessary bones on import in 3DS Max, but then again I don't know what bones get exported in the end on Blender's side.

Well thanks for the reply though, I guess I'll try FBX or something like that.
