Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 now on Xbox One!

Greetings Commandos,

Imagine my surprise and joy when upon signing into the Xbox One (a very rare occurence to be sure), I was greeted with the option of installing BC Rearmed 2 in my available games list.

Although not listed on the official Xbox website as an Xbox One backwards-compatible title, Xbox's own Major Nelson has it listed on his blog[majornelson.com] as one, and the date that it was added as 21st July, 2106 (<2 weeks ago).

This is fantastic news, as it ensures that the last and only console-exclusive Bionic Commando title lives on beyond the last-gen consoles.

The are further ramifications to this as well. It means that Capcom haven't entirely thrown the Bionic Commando franchise under the corporate bus, and this may be an avenue of gauging interest for any possible future titles.

And with the Game Streaming[support.xbox.com] feature in the Xbox app on Windows 10, this may become the unlikely avenue of us finally being able to play the game on PC, even if it required a console generation jump and then a leap to an entirely different platform. I haven't yet tested to see how it works with game streaming, so if anybody else has a go at it, let us know how it went in the comments.

Yup, that's right! BCR 2 is now available on XBox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. The newest installment in this bionically-enhanced franchise has some changes as well as a few concepts revived from the past. Among the more notable changes are Spencer's new moustache (and an extra d added to his middle name), his upgradable abilities and arm attachments, and levels in a chopper, not to mention the sniper scope ability and bionic eye brought back from Bionic Commando: Elite Forces, the strange Gameboy Color "semi-remake" of the original game. Now co-developed with Fatshark, the company that brought us "Lead and Gold", BCR 2 has updated graphics with Nvidia Physx and a new storyline with Spencer and his team of four other bionics penetrating into enemy Papagaya to prevent the evil (and golf-loving!) General Sabio from launching a devastating missile attack on the FSA. All missions (except the challenge rooms,) are playable with Co-op that uses the same save slot as singleplayer, however, there is no deathmatch or other similar multiplayer modes. XBLA: 1200 points PLN: $14.99 So....when do we get a Windows Phone 7 port?

Capcom have released the 32-page comic book that was only available when you pre-ordered the game from their web store for free on the Bionic Commando website. The comic follows the events between Rearmed and the 3D game showing how Spencer landed up in death row. The comic is available here: http://www.bioniccommando.com/us/comics/view/2

Hey! Capcom unveils a new revolution in retro-evolved action with Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. Nathan Spencer returns as the daring elite soldier equipped with a deadly bionic arm. In single-player or Co-Op modes, Spencer will have to face his greatest challenge yet as a new and sinister foe, General Sabio, is on the brink of launching a deadly missile attack. The next game in this cult classic franchise has new enemies, new weapons (such as a napalm gun), new enviroments, new abilities (such as an uppercut) and, here it comes, a jump ability! Oh, and a moustache!?!? Due to GRIN's demise (they were the co-developers with Capcom of both Bionic Commando games,) Capcom has joined up with Fatshark for the next game in the Bionic Commando franchise. The Bionic Commando & Rearmed soundtracks are now available for purchase on places like iTunes and Sumthing Digital. For $0.99 a track these are an absolute bargain for some great music.You can also play the songs off the Bionic Commando website's music player ( http://www.bioniccommando.com/music_player.php?loc=en ). Please buy the soundtrack instead of pirating it off the web if you would like another game from the Bionic Commando franchise as they need your support for funding. They estimate that due to piracy they will make another loss but feel they still need to make the soundtracks available. Links:

Rearmed mobile game.

Capcom has recently put together a BC:Rearmed mobile game. More akin to the classic than its modern remake, the mobile version is not 2.5D but true 2D with colours similar to the PC\NES version.The weapons, talk, lack of hacking enemy territory, and enemies are also like the original. With a few differences, such as no enemy convoys, from its namesake, Bionic Commando: Rearmed's appearance on the small screen is definitely worthchecking up on as it also sports the original's nostalgic soundtrack.

Unfortunately due to low sales of Bionic Commando and the latest Terminator game, Swedish game developer Grin has gone bankrupt. Good luck to all ex-Grin employees, you made some great games guys! We hope to hear some more from you.
