How do we convince the kids that we are not only 'hip' but also 'extreme'?

Hey everybody, I'd like to see if we can start up a new TA:S session in a few (two) weeks here. In an effort to learn from last year's mistakes, I'm considering a new (but less interesting ): ) form of tournament play, if we can't get the galactic war to work better. Basically, each player would have a ranking determined by the rounds they play, where we score each round you play and average it out. Though, in my opinion, there's no point in making it an competitive endeavour if the process doesn't add additional strategy to the game, so I'd still rather do a galaxy war like we tried before. The issue is we couldn't organize enough games and we never quite pushed through the war, so it's a process that needs revision. Firstly, making the galaxy smaller so the round is shorter. Secondly, adding some form of minor battles that can be fought and counted even if we don't have many players on. Perhaps minor battles that give the winning side a resource bonus in the next major battle. Thirdly, we need to grow the group and get some form of regularity to the point where we can at least stage the matches often enough to finish a tournament. Finally, to clear up balance disputes, we will need to 1) write a full list of banned units / actually disable them and 2) each team or each player on each team gets to pick one non-essential unit and have it disabled in the round temporarily ( will not be put on the banned list ). Additionally, either we vote on which mod to use or the defending team picks.

But, I'm getting ahead of myself. I need to first establish that any of you are interested in picking this up again, and then your thoughts on some kind of galactic war (which I still think would be totally cool). I will try to bear in mind that this is, first and foremost, about fun, and anything that gets in the way of that should be cut out, but I am certain most of you know about how much I enjoy over-complicating things.
