Just so we're clear do not set the world on expert mode but in character creator change your "dropping coins on death" to hardmode.

You can only join on sundays, when Gunter is in game. Just go into terraria , multiplayer, join via steam, and find gunter's icon click it and you should see join game on the screen that pops up.
