there is no way a society as technologically connected as this would ever standby idle as the internet was "shut off". people would freak the ♥♥♥♥ out and go ballistic. think of all the rage you see being spilled on the net as a medium of working it out versus those same people now without a means by which to do so. it would singlehandedly destroy modern commerce and business as well. even a supposed tyrant would have the common sense not to finish destroying his economy entirely.
