Can I eventually ask Valve to lift my game ban after 10+ years ?
I was a stupid teen. I will admit it. I cheated and regret it now and unfortunately the consequences have been the ugly red text that I am greeted by each time I click onto my profile.
Unfortunately game bans do not disappear after 7 years like VAC bans do, so you're basically going to be publically marked for life.

Steam was an important part of my childhood and knowing that I will be marked forever honestly puts me down.

So my question to everyone here is: Does Valve actually lift game bans older than 10+ years can they make an exception for someone, knowing that they hadn't cheated in more than 10 years or so? It basically means that the person is reformed, so I don't see how it wouldn't be fair to remove that text at least.

Nope. Ban is permanent. Besides the game ban is only 5 years old.

I've heard of people that got their game bans lifted after a long time since the issue. I guess they can make an exception as long as you put right words.

You heard wrong. Properly applied CS2/CSGO game bans are permanent.

Well, then I guess I am screwed. Marked for life because of immaturity.

As a kid I knew cheating was wrong. So, not really an excuse.

You didn't really have to mention that and try to sound moral as it is just a video game. People aren't flawless everyone does mistakes. People can get redemeed after some time. Valve's policy is simply just too harsh 10+ years of being banned without repeated offenses must get you unbanned imo it is simply just ridiculous.

They tried temporary bans.

People went right back to cheating.

That's true I do believe that instant perma bans are fair for cheaters however an unban after a decade is fair I don't see how that would increase the number of cheaters as they've already went 10+ years without any other ban on any Steam game, so it is basically just another change and you've already "served" 10 years anyways.

Also Valve never cared about cheating in the first place, if they did they would have implemented a better anti-cheat system like FaceIT did.

Do you think that they do that out of care for the community or profit ? It is much more profitable to just buy Prime on a brand new account.

It is what all big corporations do to milk as much money as possiblem the consumer is the least of their concerns since money speaks louder than mere words.

Not going to find many who agree permanent bans being removed after a decade is any form of “fair”.

Except for cheaters, of course.

No, you did not. you heard people say that they heard people say that they knew someone who knew someone who claimed that their ban was removed.
and in the end that person just had a cooldown that expired after a certain time. but he thought his ban was removed.

Nobody ever gets unbanned, unless its a false positive which happens very very very rarely.

There's a really simple fix, you make a new account with the same name and add the same friends and you buy the same games and you use the same background and same avatar and pretend it never happened. then when you did that delete your old account and don't look back.

"but muh skins" well thats the price you pay, you're welcome to make a list of skins you had so you can try to get them all back.

"but my registration date" MEANS NOTHING.

Well people do mature and realize their mistakes. Cheating in general is a pretty immature thing to do and it is mostly young teens that end up getting banned. After they turn into adults they regret it.

I don't see how it is not fair to keep someone banned for life it is too harsh and not humane at all.

People can stop being gambling, drug and PMO addicts.

not sure where you heard that bans get lifted after X amount of time but bans are permanent. Also Gamebans will continue to show to others.

Only because they experienced what punishment feels like, if you unban them after a certain time they will just learn that cheating is okay but you gotta have backup accounts to fill the void.

I had no skins honestly it's just the red text that bothers me. I have no desire to play the current slop that CS2 is. I don't care for an unban either it is the red text again.

yes people change, mature, grow. But by the end of the day, temporary bans was tried, and guess what, it failed, so you an say thank you to all those people who continued to cheat. So if you don't like the ban, make a new account. This is a community only forum and not an appeal forum
