Recovered Account From Hacker, But VAC Ban Persists
Several years ago ( I believe the dates were Oct 28-Nov 2 2021) I had a VAC Ban placed onto my account because some Russian hacker got into my steam AND email accounts and started playing CS with cheats I guess. Luckily, that week after I returned from my trip away, support was helpful in recovering my account and helping me secure it. But I guess the VAC Ban that this cheater acquired while using my account, is somehow my fault? I contacted steam support not long after noticing the ban and i never got any response the first time, and then just yesterday SEVERAL YEARS later cuz I figured if i had several years record of clean play it could be removed. But i guess not? Why am I being punished for something that someone else maliciously did. Especially when there is CLEAR RECORD of said hacking happening? I would love someone to clarify why I can't get this VAC ban removed and if its just a case of "It is what it is..."

Not “hacked”, hijacked because of your security practices and the ban is permanent.

The use and security of your Steam account are your responsibility. You failed to keep your account secured and it got hijacked.

So the VAC ban will remain permanent.

Its always the same story, "so years ago I got HACKED and it was right when I WAS AWAY and it was a RUSSIAN and THEY cheated but not ME so unban so I can get my greedy little hands on those skins"

always.. the.. same.. story.

I dont even play CS i just dont want the VAC ban on my account. You can check my hours in it LOL And my bad security practices of having multiple forms of verification? Additionally, what about data leaks? Is it my negligence if Google's user data security is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?? I genuinely wonder if anyone thinks before just replying to posts or if they just let their fingers guide them lol It is what it is if it's permanent I'm just OCD and kinda don't like the blemish on my steam account

What does Google have to do with anything.

The ban is not going anywhere.

I don't know why I thought the terminally online would provide any sort of intellectual discussion for me to mull over about my ban. It's not about the ban going anywhere. It's about there being zero appeal, especially when I could do everything in my power to provide my information as much security as I can, but someone else's malicious intent and them finding a way to have access to it, is somehow my fault. Is that not a little messed up? Like I understand the zero tolerance and no appeal policy to an extent to help keep cheaters in check, but generalizing anyone who could be a victim of a data leak or some other reason as the person at fault kinda gives the vibe of "Well they were over their with their data exposed without them even knowing about it so they were asking for it, so screw them."

We are simply telling you Valve's policy on account security and VAC bans. Valve does not accept appeals and Steam Support does not have the power to remove VAC bans for any reason.

To get into someone's account you need 3 things account name, password and Steam guard code that changes every 30 seconds. The only one that has should know all 3 is you.

Valve only knows the account name and current Steam guard code. They how ever do not know what your password is.

So in short for your account to be hijacked the leak had to come from your end.

You were not 'victim' of a 'data leak'.

You were responsible for the accounts security an all actions on it an you failed at that..

Not sure what you are posting about.

At one point in time Valve did remove bans from compromised account. Wanna take a guess on why they stopped?

It's too easy to fake and cheaters abused the ♥♥♥♥ out of it.

Steps to fake account hijacking.
Logout of account.
Start VPN
Login and change account info
Cheat until banned.
Sign out
Do account recovery
Cry to get unbanned.
Repeat

Or do what cheaters did and create accounts to pass around and when one got banned they did account recovery and cried to get unbanned.... and repeat over and over and over.

Also there has been no data leak on Steam.... so not sure what you are going on about.

Account hijackings are easy to fake.

You agreed to the ToS with the creation and continual use of your account, including the terms that account security is your responsibility and that VAC bans will not be removed if your account is phished and cheated on.

1 VAC ban on record | Info
1457 day(s) since last ban

Support will either tell you once and after that ignore you, or straight up ignore you regarding Vacban. If you gone to your profile and clicked on the info button next to your vacban, then you would have seen two sections, which states that bans cannot be appealed or removed, if it is found to be incorrect/false then it would be automatically removed, usually that is within couple hours, couple days, couple weeks, maybe a month or so, but after that, if the ban is not been removed then its correct. second part is, its irrelevant who used the account, account security is your responsibility. By the end of the day, the account was caught cheating
