heres what you can do rn :
🔹 Step 1: Reinstall the Steam Mobile App
Go to Google Play or App Store
Search for Steam and reinstall the official app
Log in with your Steam username and password
---
🔹 Step 2: Try Automatic Authenticator Recovery
After login, Steam will ask:
> “Do you want to restore your Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator?”
Choose “Restore” or “I have a recovery code.”
---
🔹 Step 3: Use Your Recovery Code (if you have it)
When you first added the authenticator, Steam gave you a recovery code that looks like this:
R12345AB
If you saved or wrote that code down:
Tap “I have a recovery code”
Enter it, and your authenticator will be restored immediately
---
🔹 Step 4: If You Don’t Have the Recovery Code
Don’t panic — you can still recover it manually:
1. Go to the Steam website:
2. Click “Sign in” or “Help, I can’t sign in.”
3. Choose “I no longer have access to my Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator.”
4. Follow the instructions — Steam will verify your identity (they may ask for:
Your email
Phone number linked to Steam
Or purchase details if needed)
Steam will then remove the old authenticator and let you add a new one.
---
⚠️ Important Notes
Recovery can take a few hours to a few days if manual verification is required.
During that time, you won’t be able to trade or use the market (Steam locks it for 15 days for safety).
Once restored, you’ll get a new recovery code — make sure to write it down or screenshot it this time.
