please post screenshots of the level up rewards as you get them for easy confirmation. imgur is great for that.

level 5 : can get cards for voting

at level ten I got +5 friend slots and the ability to add a "showcase" to my profile

That a very long list, with very few rewards. Come on Valve, get rewarding your customers with some prizes!

They are as follows.
Every 1 level = +5 friends
Every 10 levels = +1 profile showcase

That is everything.

So how about some real rewards, for example a random discount coupon every week if you are level 20+. Getting 5% of your purchase amount in wallet credit when you buy a game if you are level 30+.

Level 10, 20 30, 40 you get a +20% bonus to booster drop rate and an extra showcase in your profile. Every level gives +5 friends slots. Level 5 or more gets you cards from the voting in the summer sale.

Levels don't get you background, emoticons or coupons, that comes from crafting the badges themselves, which is what also is currently the main way of getting XP - so of course for levels below 11 you get +1 level for every badge you craft at the same time as getting the profiles/emoticons, so that might be the confusion, but those bonuses are actually from the badge not the level side of things (this obviously makes a difference from level 11 onwards as initially you need 2 badges per level, then from 21 you need 3 badges per level, etc.)

Woops! Forgot it is for badge and not level. So yeah, even less stuff per level than I thought.

What does the + 5 friend slots do? Is it a limit for how many friends you can have?

So, then why do I have two showcases at LVL 12?

I only have a total of 5 friends on steam, yet I keep getting useless 5+ friend slots which I am never going to fill up anyways. I would prefer random cards, coupons, backgrounds or something more usefull. Or e.g. giving special discounts for everyone on level 20 and above, etc etc.
