The Winter Sale 2025 hype thread.
Before you can say that something is an abject failure. You must first have plans, hopes, and yes even hype. Now with the sale two weeks away from this posting. I think it's a good enough time to start asking. What are peoples expectations, are they harboring any hopes, and do they have any plans.

Personally I don't know that there are any games left. That I am actually looking forward to even picking up. At least none that will get a deep enough of a discount, but I always seem to find titles to add to my vast library, because the asking price is just too good to pass up. I can't even say that those deals haven't paid off for me. I've struck pure gold on plenty of dirt cheap titles.

What I do find I'm looking forward to is the seasonal badges. I've got some card sets just waiting to be turned into badges. I'll soon have a much easier time getting through my inventory. I must also say I'm eager to see this years replay, because I've been hitting my backlog hard this year. I've made it a point this year to play many of the shorter games in my library.

Anyway impressive replay, and getting to do badges. That's what I'm excited for, but I would like to hear about what others expect to get out of the sale. Even if they don't expect to be the least bit happy about the sale.

My expectation is the deals will largely be the usual discounts we've seen a million times over and not much different from the recent Black Friday sale. The only thing that has been remotely refreshing in the last year is the introduction of the deep discount page which highlights a small amount of games with bigger than normal reductions. Other than that, I'm not expecting anything I haven't seen before many times and nine times out of ten you can get better deals elsewhere at any time of the year.

I certainly hope you're wrong about the sale. Those Black Friday sales were so low effort. I found the shopping experience unpleasant. Let us hope it's closer to the summer sale. At least that sale had some serious steals. I got five Battlefield games during that for ten dollars. As for better deals elsewhere maybe, but I'll pay a couple bucks extra. For the added security, and the steam points.

I'm eager to see my Steam Replay this year. The seasonal badge is a nice bonus, although it won't increase my profile level by much. I'll likely be spending <$200 if anything at all since I already have too many games (although I've seen users with well over 10k games)

If the Elden Ring or Cyberpunk DLC get a good deal, I'll be excited, if they are only 20 percent off, I can always wait another year or two.

At very nearly two hundred titles myself. I can't justify making further purchases. The truth is that I pushed myself this year, and my replay will say about twenty five. I'm probably never going to get that high again, and that means my backlog will take forever. Meaning I have to draw some lines.

I can't imagine how or anyone for that matter. Can even manage to accumulate thousands. Most of that has to be absolute shovel ware. What exactly possesses you all to buy that much stuff. Do you all think you'll actually play through all those, or is it some kind of collection compulsion.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me a combination of bundles and plenty of disposable income :BMW_SALUTE:

Hype is an abject failure. Looking forward to something is fine, getting hyped up for something isn't. Hype clouds judgement, clouds emotions to an extent that even if you don't screw yourself over for hype (i.e. bought a game on a holiday sale for twice the price you could've paid 2 weeks prior), hype still precludes feeling genuine fun from the thing itself.

So you wont let yourself get hyped for the upcoming sale. Can't say protecting yourself like that sounds all that fun, but oh well if you being you means you going full on emo. Well that is your prerogative, but I've got to ask. Does that mean you've no expectations? No things you hope to see on sale, or things you're planning on buying?
There is nothing of interest for me out there, on Earth, at all.

The fact that you replied to this thread. Would indicate that you are interested.

Nope. I have no plans, zero hope and absolutely no hype about whatever sale may come.
I expect nothing and yet I'm most likely still going to be dissapointed... again. And if I get dissapointed there is no reason for me to part with my money.

Can't wait for me to buy nothing for Steam's Winter Sale.

Nothing specific I'm looking for, but it's fun to browse. Most of what I'm interested is still probably a few years out from deep sales, but there's usually a title or two that surprises me.
