No it’s not illegal anywhere Steam is allowed.
NO ONE WANTS TO HIDE THEY WANT TO DELETE ALL DATA CONNECTED TO IT... THATS DATA COLLECTIING which is illegal.. if i delete the game it should be all gone... not stored on steam its a privacy matter.
Valve is not breaking any laws no matter how much you wish they were.
Goodbye
Nope, you can already delete all your data if you wish, but a log of licenses you own is not personal info and is not illegal anywhere.
Then sue Valve and dont post here.
1. Data collecting is not illegal as long as you're informed (and you are)
2. You can easily delete 100% of your data from steam by deleting your account, it's a very easy option to engage
It's not even clear what you're attempting to do here. If you don't want a steam account, delete it, you already have that option. The only reason to have a steam account is to track what games you've purchased here and to be able to download them again in the future. If that's not a service you want, then delete your account and go away.
Beyond that, if you do have a steam account 100% of your information, games lists, etc can all be kept private from the public or extensively customized to what you're willing to display (including privatizing individual games, etc or just remain 100% private.
But as for steam "keeping your data" yea, it's a service that keeps your games available to you, essentially forever. You either want that so your library is protected, or you don't use this service (and delete your account)
Your rage over this seems like you simply have no clue what's already available or what this website/service is even intended to be used for.
It's in the customer service options along with refunds (removal is basically a refund without getting the money back). If you're not getting the money back you're better off just hiding it.
Hiding and privating you can do through your library tools. Removals and refunds are done through customer service requests.
You literally bought the game. The game didn't magically appear in your account.
And yes, you can delete games from your account. You just need to contact support.
P.S. are banks also breaking the law because they don't delete the transactions you don't like? Is the government breaking the law because they won't remove you from the IRS database?
--
As far as removing products/data from the account is concerned, strictly speaking, it's misleading customers with regard to the labels. This also applies to buttons such as "Buy product xy", even though this is not the case, as we only lease the right of use.
Privacy is another issue. When it comes to payment data, companies are obliged to store data for a certain period of time. But this does not affect the data that is generated by the product itself. Customers on Steam don’t even have the option to remove their cloud data.
Unfortunately, there is no clear distinction here, nor is any importance given to proper definitions. It wouldn’t be the first time companies have been forced by law to revise their wording because of misleading terminology.
Well, as the previous example posts show, it doesn’t really seem to matter for many people.
There is definitely something that could be done legally in that area.
But, as always, someone has to pass this on to the relevant authorities and that's where it usually falls flat. Many people just complain and let others do the work for them instead of getting off their asses themselves.
The data connected to that game should be deleted too as your request when you delete the game.
i dont want to delete my bank account your post picks out a transaction only anyway! I'm aware of the the banks retention policy but im not aware of steams.
That is the only way to delete all the data you request.
You are welcome.
its not true it holds on to your info and it connects to whatever game you buy!
They are illegally storing peoples data even after game delete.. i didnt say i wanted to delete my whole account and i also dont believe they even delete all data after account delete the email will still be logged to steam maybe.
