im sure this is a scam.
some dude dm'ed me on discord and said

" Because, This is what really happen i accidentally report your account for doing illegal buying product instead of someone else and the steam moderator said that there is a higher chance your account will be suspended and your IP will be blocked on steam if there is no action."

and after i told him it was my account he said
"I suppose to report the guy who steal my stuff that i listed on market i thought it was you because the same profile picture but now i cant reach him anymore he changed everything also the profile that's why i mistakenly report you and the main reason why I message you, its because the steam support admin that i already filed a requested wants them to confirm the incident for just what happened and why i accidentally mistake's reported you from steam and they just wanted and needed your statement explanation to comply about your side with this kind of case and i know that you are not part and involved of those mistakes report."

Perhaps you should confide in someone, that has a little more life experience than you, whom you trust before you buy/sell/trade on the market in order to avoid being scammed.

For real? Valve's or Steam's staff never contact you outside their Steam platform and forums ways, period. :hotline:
It. is. that. simple. :baa: And that is such a common sense and comon knowledge fact that I still get baffled on how people even make threads asking about it. :pandastunned:

If you're not 100% sure, it's always better to ask than risk losing your account. Scammers will use scaremongering tactics to try and get you to do what they want. They will try to trick you in to believing that something bad will happen to your account. It's all lies!

Never give your account details to anybody.

How would your account have been reported if you didn't have Discord? See where the scam comes in?

A random user on Steam can't message me unless I have them added and say they reported me by accident. They could say it on the forums but then in order for me to actually do anything about it, I would have to check the forums, which isn't something I do all that often anymore, so then it would be an obvious scam there as well (as well as breaking Steam's TOS directly on their platform)

Gamers are not required to have Discord.

Steam admins and moderators don't use Discord and they'll never try to contact you outside of Steam.

If something gets reported, it will be something that violates the Steam TOS (typically--although the moderation I think is partly automated so users can sometimes be reported for no reason or by bots), in which case you just get a support ticket sent directly from Steam on the service and then if it's a frivolous or nonsense report you can appeal it right then and there.

I would recommend not using Discord as it has a disturbing amount of bad actors on it that seem to find their way into most Discord servers

Any conversation that starts with I accidently reported your account or that they work for steam and contacted you to fix an issue by adding you is a scam:hissing:
