Valve has become a disgraceful company, of the like we have been critical of.. and loathed our entire lives. We always cry afoul of nintendo, sony and microsoft, but no company has been more hypocritical than Valve, especially regarding community and content moderation.
Gabe Newell does all but zilch for society, which is his right, as it is his right to own a yacht company.
We all just have to stomach the fact that our hobby of computer gaming is mainstream now, and none of the creative endeavors that we appreciate really matter anymore.
Yes, a lot of values have been changed or perverted as a whole by society over time. Valve is one of those companies which actually did their best to resist this change. However, and as I like to say it out loud often in real life: "You cannot stop progress. Especially progress you don't want to have."
Ever used the steam controller? Ever gamed on a steam machine? 1000+ bucks for tethered VR nearly a decade after release...
carry on pontificating on why this guys should or should not be angry that steam forced a name change, all the while, the next oh-so-"gripping" hentai game just released.
