Wasn't the first time the name was forcibly changed either. So he got popped once for it, then changed it back after the first ban expired.

Given it's the second time steam support has removed it clearly you didn't learn your lesson about what is and is not acceptable

Valve has become a disgraceful company, of the like we have been critical of.. and loathed our entire lives. We always cry afoul of nintendo, sony and microsoft, but no company has been more hypocritical than Valve, especially regarding community and content moderation.

Gabe Newell does all but zilch for society, which is his right, as it is his right to own a yacht company.

We all just have to stomach the fact that our hobby of computer gaming is mainstream now, and none of the creative endeavors that we appreciate really matter anymore.

I completely agree with the general sentiment of your post. What I completely disagree with is that Valve has anything to do with any of this. At least directly.

Yes, a lot of values have been changed or perverted as a whole by society over time. Valve is one of those companies which actually did their best to resist this change. However, and as I like to say it out loud often in real life: "You cannot stop progress. Especially progress you don't want to have."

If a moderator is changing your profile then report it to steam support, if the moderation was wrong they will reverse the ban. I had a moderator disciplined just last month for wrongfully attempting to edit my profile. Also be sure to take screenshots of the support tickets where they state the profile content is fine as it can save a lot of back and forth if it happens again.

Other than Half Life, the source engine and the ease of the steam storefront, valve has not done anything to further gaming in any meaningful way in my opinion. Steam hardware is ill conceived in my opinion, and greedily over priced. As practically the progenitors of tradeable/marketable game items, Valve has contributed to the over monetization of gaming, and I don't think that is progress.

moderators dont handle profile issues, they handle forum issues. if his name was reset, it was done by steam support.

If you got a 1-year ban, you obviously ignored the prior warnings. No one automatically gets 1-yr. It's always progressive. You ignored at least 2-3 warnings. This is all on you.

Again, hentai has zero bearing on anything at hand on this topic. Nor is it a problem in general. The simple fact you and OP seem to be confusing both to be in the same ballpark is the main problem of this topic. And that's obviously a you problem in both cases.
