flag system grip.
Just got a thread locked where I'm griping about the forum flag system being more about feelings then TOS violations.
Some one responded to it, I responded to them, I assume they flagged the thread that got locked for being something it wasn't.

Could not have proven my point any better, thank you very much. I ought to give you one of those icon thing awards.

Yes, any forum moderation system the depends on posters to flag TOS violations becomes all about the feels not the violations. "ricocheting BB's is all fun and games till some one loses an eye". Forum discord/discourses/banter/arguments are all fun and games till some ones feels get hurt, then they report posts.

I only ask one thing of forum moderators, please read the entire thread the flagged post is in. I doubt seriously it's alone.

Yes, this is my pet peeve because some people got tissue thin skin. And a post shouldn't get flagged simply because some one took offense.

The forums aren't the place to talk about individual bans, you use the appeal system in the ban message.

I honestly couldn't give two fornications about time outs form here, and that is an example why. hell it's a double example. So I have 0 intention of appealing it.

Mentioning individual bans constitutes as complaining about it.

Long story short, don't insult folk, don't antagonize, don't be rude. The rules on these are partially vague so folk can't just toe right up to the line to bait others into replies that can be reported.

My point is you just described most PVP forums. People do not report posts for being violations, they report them because some one's feels got hurt.

Now with time outs stacked like cord wood I'm just asking moderators to read an entire thread, I'm quite pessimistic that the one flagged post is the only one in the thread in violation.

I have yet seen any forum flag system that wasn't feelings over TOS.

the flip side is that you will not get in trouble if you do not say anything that is against the rules

that includes things that will hurt someones feelings

even if you think it is a joke or do not think they should take it personally

I'm a sardonic, abrasive, argumentative old curmudgeon, some people just have real thin skin. I've got arthritis in my feet and I'll be damned if I'll tip toe around anyone. Some people just need to learn to "put some brine on that booboo".

Few discords I'm on I've never had an issue, why?
