My steam account was hacked and steam support wont help me, What do I do?
I have been having a problem recently, where my account was hacked by another person. The person that did this to my account purchased a steam deck with my card and also took over my discord as the accounts were linked. I changed all my passwords and got my account back, but since I canceled the payment on my card steam has locked my account and it will remain locked for 15 years. I reached out to steam support numerous times offering to show them proof, but they refuse to make any compromises with me stating that they haven't detected anything unusual thus I have to either pay for the steam deck or leave my account locked. I reached out to the BBB and they were ghosted by steam support. I don't know what to do and would love some help / advise. also the charge is $700 so I really don't want to pay for it. I also cant return the steam deck as it wasn't sent to my address but to someone else's.

You are responsible for the security of your account. Your info was leaked, not "hacked".

Doing a charge back on your credit card is worth the account restriction for that large sum of money!

Create a new account and family share games from your restricted account. You will also need to get a new credit card number to make future purchases.

I assume you issued a chargeback on the purchase the hijacker did. That puts you kind of in a hard spot. Steam is very picky in regards chargebacks, they apply strong restrictions on accounts which issue one. Granted it was an attacker, but it's still your payment method and account (And by the SSA the security of the account is the user's responsibility)

From your end it looks you got hijacked and someone bought a Deck with your money. But from Steam's side it can sound like someone is trying to get a Deck for free.

You're going to have to sort it out with Support, there's really no other venue, but your chances are slim.
Ok, thank you for the advise and help. Based on my other post I can see the situation is bad.
