i have some games on my epic games store but i want steam to detect it and register it on my steam account, so that i can buy the DLCs on steam instead . the game in question is " World War Z" .

You buy the games on Steam to have them on Steam and purchase the DLC for them on Steam.

All you can do is link an EXE as a Non-Steam game to your Library. Any requirement for a particular launcher/service will still have to be done accordingly.

None of these services offer transferring of game licenses to Steam.

If you want a Steam copy, buy the game on Steam. Fairly certain most epic-wwz players got it for free (and supposedly are about to again). If you bought it on epic, "oof".

DLCs on Steam need the base game on Steam. That's how it works.

Anything else - base game typically only - can only literally be added as a non-steam game, but you're not gonna be able to buy Steam-DLC for an epic game.

Wouldn't really say punishment, but the point of selling DLC on a store is that the DLC and base game are sold on the same store to work with the same client, since that service manages the license checking.

Steam likes to ensure you don't buy DLC for a game you don't have, and the store pages will note requiring the base game. Your epic license is managed by epic. Your Steam licenses are managed by Steam (Valve). Companies often don't work with each other when they're competitors. epic is only sustained by fortnite & engine royalties, so its a high-risk place to purchase for long term use of games.

This is the exact reason many of us just stick to Steam.

Epic wants you to put all your eggs in their basket instead, but no matter how hard they try they just can't make as nice a basket as Steam.

I still collect my Epic freebies, though.
