The only way to avoid it, is to completely ignore the notification and not click on anything. Including not removing the notification by closing it.
Try to ignore it.
The problem is, many people want the badges to fit together by shape or colour.
It takes a while to find some. and then you spend money to craft the badges only for them to be ruined by another forced badge.
There needs to be an option to customise or lock them.
now i suddenly logged in yesterday into steam and it was forced upon my profile... ♥♥♥♥ you valve, i'll always hate you for destroying the profile i "perfected" for myself. it took me years to make it perfect and you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up with your forced ♥♥♥♥...
edit: also it gets worse, if i dont activate that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steam replay showcase on my profile i constantly get the super blurred promotion for it, after every login and visit to my profile... really valve.. really ??
that person who decided to force this badge upon players and force this steam replay showcase upon players should be fired as this person proved that he is an ignorant ♥♥♥♥
It gets worse though. Not only will closing the blurry notification give you the badge, this message will also continually re-appear on your profile regardless of having closed it.
If you set it as a showcase, the message goes away permanently and doesn't re-appear. But then you have to swap it with one of your existing showcases.
"Unfortunately, Steam and Community badges awarded through completing achievements in Steam cannot be modified, deleted, or granted to an account".
OFC they wrote this. ♥♥♥♥ them, scumbags :(
Considering that Valve is a billionaire company, that's even funnier.
I mean, that would be understandable and even expected from smaller companies, but... you would expect better from Valve.
Some people (me) got it before even banner popped out. I wanted change my pfp and i clicked "edit profile" and then i got badge LOL. If I knew i would have never change anything. But then I would definitely click " X" button on the banner and get badge anyway xDDDD
Thanks Valve for choice.
I don't think they would care enough....
Out of 100+ million users, half most likely don't care about profiles.
Hell, most users never even use the forum in general and then you have even more that 'rarely' use the forum.
Now with that information.... how many people are actually going to care about the way the few badges are setup.
I am pretty positive less people are bothered by this than their are linux users on the platform...
Why would they change something that most likely doesn't bother like 99% of all users (and that isnt even a far fetch to say % wise) and even more why would they change it if it doesn't even really negatively impact you.
I don't think anyone is going to go to your profile and go "Wow! What an amazing and gorgeous profile! But that badge makes it a 1/10."
I'm not saying it isn't bothersome, I just am saying it is such a small thing that them devoting time into it doesn't really warrant the effort.
Well, on the upside... while it might not be what you want, the replay badges colors don't conflict with your profile too terribly. It looks pretty good still.
Hopefully hearing / reading that can at least make you feel a little bit better about this disappointment.
Meh. I expect better from Valve simply because : despite being smaller than Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Nintendo, they still make less mistakes and succeed at things that all of the prior mentioned larger companies fail at.
Seriously, Google is a 1.2 trillion dollar company; even if Stadia didn't manage to do games as well as the big gaming companies, it shouldn't have failed. And also the 1.2 trillion dollar search engine frequently lies to me when I don't word my searches just right.
Being forced to take something by a company doesn't justify the fact that there is such small % of people that care about their profiles. Everyone had the choice to do the 2022 replay, we who chose to not do it just because of that badge, have been forced to take it as a profile showcase choice now, as well as receiving the badge.
It actually kind of does.
Profile customization and forums are a luxury.....
Steam doesn't need to cater to either to still be so insanely better than their competitors in terms of what they provide, established market, built in linux support, steamworks for developers, steamworkshop for users and the list goes on.
So yeah, sadly to them it is justified if they can't be bothered on something so insanely insignificant.
Would you rather put up with such a small trivial issue or would you like for steam to just get rid of forums and profile customization since it wouldn't impact their bottom line by much?
I understand it is annoying.... but.... it really isn't that serious.
Does it impact you in such a way that others harass you for it or impact how you function?
What I am getting at, if steam wanted to remove something or add something on profiles... they have justification since it is free, doesn't impact you, is an overall luxury to the individual user, and its their platform. While you complain about the badge, hundreds of users complained about Steam levels, why should you be catered to and not them when they were a lot larger group complaining about it when levels sprung up.
