i need help adding a friend

i got a new friend in a game on a different device and im trying to add them on steam since the game i was playing dosent have a friend request system and when i try to enter their friend code it dosent work because i need to pay 5 dollars which i dont have. if anyone has a method i could use please lmk

Have them add you, or pay $5. Those are the two options.

You can not use friend codes to add people on your account.

You may not be able to send invites but you can give them your friend code or invite link from this page... https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/my/friends/add ...that they can use to add you instead.

That is, if you choose not to add $5 to the account right now.
