Its a easy to pickup rpg action game i assure you.
Jokes aside, is he into rts/strategy games?
If so maybe the Civ series or the company of heroes games would be fun
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments
The Room
The Room 2
The Raven - Legacy of a Master Thief
I can recommend you Zuma Revenge, Peggle, Bejeweled 3 and Plants vs zombies, easy casual games for everyone

I think most casual games fit for elders.
my recomendation would be Bejewel, Zuma, Peggle.
tabletop-style games also good : scrabble. monopoly etc (they can always play single player mode)
that 'll piss him off enough that he will probably want to kick your
butt at whatever FPS or whatever you are playing ;p
I would let him try out a castle defense type game in a theme he would
enjoy. If he does not like that maybe a SIM type game.
ZUMA is fun as mentioned.

If you want to help your dad become more techsavy, Back in the late '80s early '90s this game helped me and some friends to better understand PC-use, with STDs as a metaphore for sloppyness on the computer :

This software has a lot of minigames & big games as workshop items. And who knows, maybe the 2 of you would enjoy making your own games together to draw in even more familymembers:

Lastly some advise. Steam also has educational software section :

There's a lot more on Steam like this.
Another spin on ancient Arcades. I like Dubstep but as i know i am an exception among the 50year old Ppl this game probably is not for your father. However there are many more like this available on Steam and as i recall some of them allow us to use our own music files in-game. Allas for you i don't know the names of these games.

there is Lego, there is Batman. And there are Lego versions of Batman and Batman editions of Lego.
