Portal Sourcecode

Is there any way to obtain the Sourcecode originaly used for the first portal? I am making a Mod for Portal but i need to change a few things that are currently hardcoded.

Honestly, ask Valve.. theyll probably hook it up.

No, they definitely would not hook it up. The closest you are gunna get is the recent leak of the 2007 src code that included Portal, which is the first time its been available to the public. That being said, it is illegal, and making a mod for it would be pretty out of the question, unless you want to do some underground project. We really just have to hope they will release it themselves in the future.

no offence but i dought it, i'm sure plenty of people have asked i want it just as badly cause i need it for a mod too, maybe if we get enough people to comment on this we can get them to relse it, i mean they should have already i think.

of course they are going to continue to hide it!! Source 2 is not a complete re-write of code, no upgrade of game engine is unless it was an awful hacked mess which Source 1 is not since it has been going for nearly 10 years and is constantly updated. That would be stupid as they would be duplicating effort. I lot of Source 1 code will be in Source 2 engine.

People are always going to use the source 1 game engine, it is an exalent game engine, but if the source 2 code is so much better then source one then they will not see portal 1 code as anything new, so it is nothing worth hiding, portal 2 however is much more recent so i dought we will get that tell like 2017 or more
