In some cases you can fix that by diggin into your Steam library folder (~/Application Support/Steam/common) and then look in the corresponding game's folder. Usually, you'll find the actual game executable there, often with the icon it's supposed to have. Select the executable, open the Finder's info window (cmd+i), click on the icon on the top and press cmd+c. Then select the game's shortcut in your Application folder, again open the file info window (cmd+i), select the icon, press cmd+v. Voilà!
Some (few) games apparently don't have real Mac icons, though.
- Open your library of applications, open the games properties
- Local files tab, browse local files
I found many games had their icons stashed in that directory, and if not it should be a good place to start
I now have icons in Launchpad for my games!
I could not find the Steam folder in Application Support, so alternatively you can access the game executable (and the icon) by right clicking on the game directly on Steam --> Manage --> Browse Local Files
I couldn't follow the instructions I found here, but was useful to actually make it works. What I did:
Open finder
Research the game name in all the computer
right click on the icon (without the picture) and open the INFO
Go on internet and find an icon for this game
Download it
With download folder open drag and drop on top of the game info the cursor should become a plus green
that's it your game as now an icon also in launch pad
this worked well for me thank you
