L4D2 - Missing textures on seemingly random props
EDIT: for others having comparable trouble with prop models from models/gm_forest, there's a thread here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-936001.html that offers some solutions, albeit non have worked for me.

I'm quite new to using hammer, so hopefully I'm just doing something wrong or missing something.
After compiling my map from hammer and run it in L4D2, certain props seem to have their textures replaced with a silvery/white somewhat reflective texture. I figured it'd be something to do with missing cubemaps, but it also happens to some plants. Now the strangest part is, some of the plants for example have their normal textures, where others don't, even if they're using the same model.
What could be going wrong? How do I solve this? If it is actually missing cubemaps I'm going to slap myself.

If it looks like the picture in this then it most likely is a missing cubemap

Thanks for the reply, already checked those wiki pages. It's more whitish for me, and I've tried putting multiple cubemaps around the objects, to no result. The props that don't seem to be working are:
models/gm_forest/growth_e.mdl and models/gm_forest/growth_b.mdl

Hmm odd. Have you tried verifying the game files to make sure?

yup, I have now. They appear correct in the editor, but always look extremely bright in-game after a compile, regardless of compilation settings. I've done a bit of googling, and it would appear the foilage models from that set (gm_forest) all have those sort of issues one way or another, but other discussion threads regarding it have offered no conclusive solutions.
I've since removed the props from my map, but I'm rather intrigued to know if there's an actual solution.
