But I not create my custom texture, I download a pack of textures in GameBanana and there is the VTF and VTM files on the pack.
I put them on the "materials" folder of the game (Portal and Half Life 2) but it's always checked purple and black...
Note that the $modelmaterial entry may reference a different file than the texture you're working with and would require the $modelmaterial to be present also...
"$basetexture" "Decals/bigshot1"
"$modelmaterial" "decals/bigshot1model"
The Decal 'bigshot1' requires the 'bigshot1model' .vmt and .vtf to be present.
