Thank god they got rid of it.
Assassin's Creed 2 made pick pocketting trivial and added a host of weapons I never use but the story and characters were significantly better. I really enjoyed Ezio as a character and I identified with his struggle.
Brotherhood was good but mainly because of the assassins you got to train. I really liked that mechanic. Combat became pretty brutal but the sound failed to deliver the right oomph to go along with the on screen presentation.
I also didn't like the story all that much and, while I thoroughly enjoyed the Christina Missions, the rest of it was pretty forgettable. I also felt that the level design was weaker and that there were a greater number of places that couldn't be traversed in the regular way (ie a straight line).
For me, the series really stepped off the rails with Revelations. The story was good enough and I enjoyed the greater focus on platforming sequences but with the introduction of the pillboxes (musketeers firing from the sides of buildings), even more weapons, regular enemies with pistols, and that damn tower defense minigame the game just felt less compelling and more frustrating.
The Assassin building from Brotherhood in theory got better due to added depth but because of the tower defense minigame it just became a chore to do.
Overall I'm not terribly satisfied with what Ubisoft have done with the franchise.
Also i cant seem to find a platform i enjoy, lately i have been playing AC2, on both ps3 and PC.
On PC it seems much less buggy to me and ezio climbs walls and leaps buildings much more smoothly, but i refuse to buy a controller for my PC and the KB and mouse controls for PC leave something to be desired.
Now on ps3 the controls are very easy to use, but holy crap the camera angles and climbing is horrid, constantly falling and bugging out on walls, or jumping the wrong direction.
Frankly i just wish they would do something different.... i feel like I'm playing a different skin for infamous and prototype with the exact same gameplay and horrid controls. You know.... look on map for quest or objective.... run and climb over buildings.... do one of 5 different mission types..... rinse repeat.
Then theres the combat. AC combat just sucks...theres no real ryhm or reason to it. AC2 and AC:B combat is just ridiculous. All I had to do was hold block and counter when someone started to attack and within 5 minutes I could take out a group of 6 or 7 men.
I could forgive all that.....ALL THAT.....if the character didn't go from a baddass in the first to a guy who all of sudden knows everything about being an assassin.
Brotherhood was good and I liked the addition of assassin recruits. The only complaints I have are while they tried to improve combat they made it even easier than it was in AC2 though combat isn't the main reason I play these games myself. Also the game and story is too short and it just doesn't have the same feeling as AC2 did.
Revelations is pretty much the same as Brotherhood but in a new location, I liked it but the same complaints I had for Brotherhood I have for Revelations.
If I was to put them in order of most liked it would be AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations and then AC1.
Ubisoft's DRM isn't in the first game. It didn't come in until AC2.
You could use your PS3 controller if you don't want to buy one. Use Motioninjoy to emulate the 360 controller.
Or do you just prefer not to use a controller on the PC at all?
How'd you even find this thread? Were you searching for gold? Cus you've reached platinum.
Also, this thread prolly getting locked soon, some peeps just hate seeing revival of gems 😂
The steam forum search doesn't prioritise more recent threads in its results, so the longer the forums have existed, the older the average thread that matches any given search term will tend to be. The default forum formatting also shows the date of the post in an extremely low contrast font, so few people are going to notice the time lag unless specifically cued to look for it.
Aye and that\s perfectly fine, i've found fixes to some older games because it prioritises relevance over recent which is infact quite relevant to do. Older threads don't become automatically "obsolete", but is for the Gen-Z and Karens.
Thanks for the input though.
But question still remains, how he found it, i.e. at this point what he "searched" for.
