U.S. tourism faces $5.7B US loss as Canadians continue to stay home
The U.S. has historically enjoyed a travel trade surplus. But for 2025, the Travel Association forecasts a deficit of nearly $70 billion US.

The world as a whole is increasingly avoiding the States.

Are you boycotting travel to the US?

Gabe Newell has criticized major policies of Donald Trump, he's not a fan of the isolationist policies.

In 2017, Newell publicly criticized Trump’s travel ban (the executive order that restricted entry to the U.S. from several predominantly Muslim countries).

Newell expressed concern that Visa restrictions arising from the ban could also hurt the esports and gaming-event world, not just his own employees.

They don't buy the products they weren't planning to buy and call it a boycott, and wonders why the US economy continues to grow despite their efforts. It's amusing.

Valve aren't donating to the republican party or hosting republican themed sales.

Steam is a liberal and progressive platform.

LGBTQ+ games sale (2019) – First major queer-themed sale; added the official LGBTQ+ store tag.

Recurring Pride / queer-positive game sales – Visibility events featuring LGBTQ-inclusive titles.

One Special Day charity sale – Annual disability-accessibility fundraiser supporting SpecialEffect (assistive gaming tech).
I'm boycotting the USA to avoid my mother-in-law, who is scared of long plane flights and for now won't come over here and fuss over me

I doubt many Americans besides a few border towns and tourist spots noticed a boycott. If a Canadian wanted to go to Florida to remember what the sun looks like, I doubt they would cancel their trip. I am not sure why a Canadian would go to Maine or New York for a vacation anyways, there isn't that much difference in the view within a couple hundred miles of the border.
