all i can think about is how that thing would absolute terrify my cats. at least for awhile, then they would probably mess with it.

No. If i ever automatize my house chores i'll do it with open source hardware & software, i don't trust a random start up or corporation random robot to wander around in my house. The only exception would be my roomba, which by nowadays tech standard is very old tech.

why does it look like a lego character?

:lunar2019laughingpig:

ya... i would rather do my own work, instead of becoming lazy.

actually in addition to this, i would be terrified it would hurt my cats. not on purpose, but autonomous machines like that always scare me a bit. they are just not quite there yet to avoid accidents, stay away from automated litter trays! even the best ones malfunction, and they kill cats regularly.

Looking forward to the day I replace my wife.

I already have cleaning drones. I wouldn't get this specific robot but would if they advance one a lot more.

If it can get rid of this dust, I'm all for it.

I could see that. My cats were scared of my robot vacuum for a while, but finally most ignore it, and some are curious of it and want to play with it.

Yeah, if my partner and I ever got a robot like that, which I doubt we would, we would make sure it wasn't tied to the internet. We just have two of those robot vacuums that don't require wifi.

Yeah, speaking of robot litter boxes, cats have died from those ones that turn around forwardly. My partner and I have two robot litter boxes, but we made sure that our big enclosed one only turns sideways. Then we have another open one, and it just moves forward to scoop up and dump the litter, so no cat should get harmed with it.

She might celebrate that, don't ya think?

I think it will be made to dust, do laundry, do dishes (like load the dishwasher), stuff like that.

I think robot developers are overly ambitious; robots will never become truly useful household helpers. The more complex the device, the more unreliable it tends to be. Imagine a scenario where your child accidentally pushes it, or a short circuit occurs during recharging. Suddenly, the intricate electronics inside your ultra-expensive machine fail, melting under the stress and leaving the robot inoperable. Instead of assisting you, it begins to twitch uncontrollably, its limbs jerking as if in a seizure.

I believe they will develop the technology to make them at least appear useful, but at what price? I suspect it will come at the expense of privacy, and there could be many unintentional injuries and maybe even fatalities.

They need robot vacuum dogs.

Maybe they can be dusters, climbing all over the place.

I think my place is too crowded for it.
