It's ironically requiring RAM and Disk Space to emulate that RAM, so it's similar to Window's Virtual Memory.
Prices are skyrocketing and then be limited in availablity.
However, there will also be an AI Bubble which can easily pop. Currently major American companies are all backing upon AI technology (restricted) but it can't support itself at this rate and will come crashing down alongside the US Economy. It's not really an if, but a when. It's overconsumed at the moment.
This is why you need restrictions: To limit the amount of power and resources drained. Silly Trump thrown that out the window might look great for American companies wanting to drive for it at first, but is a really short term greedy profit.

“Good” (mid to high range) gaming PC’s last 10 years now……
Who’s buying ram all the time
And it's not as if I'm collecting RAM. Got enough (32 DDR5) and I don't need more.
Let me know when that game comes out that needs 64 GB.
Not necessarily cheaper but easier to get the desired components in a pre-built rather than procuring after market. For example, I recently bought a laptop with 64GB DDR5 memory which I could not get (at the time) direct from the likes of Crucial, G Skill, or Kingston.
Back to you, Jim.
You just don't know yet how good I'm at hinting future predictions:

Like the AI Bubble pop... Then the sky be falling...
Whether it's a fad or production will eventually ramp up if the new demand is stable, things will level back out.
its time we turned up the world to 11.
