Girl Walking To School Sees 'Strange' Box In Field And Realizes Someone's Inside

Recently, a teenage girl was walking across an arid field on her way to Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona, when she noticed a taped-up Amazon box abandoned in the dirt.

The girl immediately suspected something was up.

“She thought it was strange,” Buckeye Animal Rescue & Kennel (BARK) wrote in a Facebook post. “Upon closer inspection, she realized that there was a kitty inside.”

The animal lover grabbed the cat, hurried home, and showed her parents what she’d found. In need of expert help, the family contacted BARK. Soon, rescue founder Lilia Mutka was headed to the scene.

Mutka, who has over 13 years of rescue experience, knew just what to do. She brought the terrified cat back to the rescue’s home base and gave her a warm space to recuperate. Then she scheduled a vet appointment so the cat could receive necessary vaccinations and tests.

Rescuers were pleased to learn that the cat had a microchip, which provided lots of helpful information about her backstory. They discovered her name was Betty Davis and that she’d been adopted from another local animal advocacy group, Pammy’s Second Chance Rescue, before ending up in the dangerous field.

Mutka got in touch with her colleagues at Pammy’s Second Chance Rescue and told them the news. In no time, a team member from the rescue came over and took Betty Davis back to their facility. Rescuers plan to conduct a thorough investigation into what happened so they can ensure that Betty Davis never ends up in a situation like this again.
Betty Davis had a little angel looking out for her. Not only did the teenager see the box but took the time to check it out. Otherwise, that cat would have died a very cruel death.
What is wrong with our civilization? Why are we just leaving cats in boxes like it's nothing. Smh. So much human waste in the world.

many peoples do not value animal life, many places have lax punishments or none at all for cruel treatment of animals. it is sad, but its why it is important to help animals when we can.

This is a good example of why humanity is trash.

If it wasn't there would not be such lax laws & norms etc in so many places.

It's good some people care, but I have to call it like it is. Overwhelmingly, most institutions in most societies don't care about animals, to put it very lightly.

Whichever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who "owned" the cat before will mostly get away with it in my view (even if they receive a slap on a wrist) and probably go on to abuse more animals.

Caring for the earth is woke hippie fluff now? Nor do I care about 8 billion people when 7 billion of us on the earth are industrial residue from our natural numbers of aroud a few hundred million. Of course, we all know that's impossible to go back to, but if you can't be a nature hippie you shouldn't revert back to being a human hippie. Besides, you need to care for nature to care for humans anyway.

I don't support mass infertility or WEF either. I think both infertility and overpopulation are issue that must be handled at their own fruits. Since overpopulation is a technical issue while mass infertility pertains to the general well-being of society.

It's truly awful, but I can understand what might lead someone to feel they have no choice but to act that way; let me be clear, I'm not saying it's justified or anything. The costs of spaying or neutering pets, feeding them, and taking them to the vet can be overwhelming. I believe this pushes many people to abandon their animals. I personally have several rescue cats, and my latest vet bill for my oldest cat, who is 15 years old, for just one day/night at the vet was around $500. I wish prices were lower and that there were more resources available to assist people like me who are trying their best to rescue animals.
