The "Home Alone" movie (1990s) had that. Kevin McCallister spent $19.83 USD on his groceries (with a $1 dollar off coupon).
- Half gallon of milk
- Half gallon of orange juice
- Loaf of Wonder Bread
- Frozen mac and cheese
- TV dinner
- Tide liquid detergent
- Saran wrap
- Snuggle dryer sheets
- Toilet paper
- Bag of toy soldiers
In 2025, buying the same items would now cost you $72 USD. That's a 250% price increase over those years!
I don't think Trump himself knows the definition of the word, but since he considers it a scam and he's the king of scams... Trump quote: "The word Affordability should be our word, not theirs!"
And what do you know of affordability in the United States? Do you pay bills in the US? Groceries? Rent? Tell us what experience you actually have on this subject to determine who is right or wrong.
$2.15
$2.30
$3.00
$1.00-5.00 depending on brand.
$1.50 minimum, but upwards of $10 depending on brand
$5.00
$ (don't know, don't buy saran wrap)
$ (don't know don't buy those)
$3.99
$ (don't know, but probably $1.00 minimum)
In the previous 4 years we had already saw how Pro-Affordability they are, but for those that tend to suffer from amnesia, 2025 has been also quite transparent on that criteria of evaluation of the Trump movement.
Also just cause some might not live in the USA, doesn't they don't know the cost of living in the USA, for some that's the reason they left and others the reason why they never moved there.
I just price checked all those items at my local grocery store and the total price is $40. Inflation alone makes $19.83 in 1991 worth $47.29 in today's money. Stop trolling and find a new hobby.
If you want to talk about affordability crisis, then go look at Canada.
We have gas resources and refineries but we are controlled by science denying Democrats who would rather hurt it's people then do the economically smart thing...start harvesting and refining more oil, drop the gas prices, provide more jobs and boost the Californian economy which would help the whole US.
But California would rather keep prices high and blame Trump.
That's your perception of it that's fair.
Though it wasn't that long ago T was asking eggs from EU, neither was that long ago that T tariffs kicking in and bumping up the car prices in USA soil.
ICE intervention is being followed almost by the minute, you just need to look into a USA media outlet and they will be speaking about it for an hour.
If we want a more localized information it's just a matter of looking into the region and ,at least in the area i live in, shouldn't be hard to get the testimony from an USA citizen of that particular region. The question would be more how recently did they left that particular area.
Cost of living is usually quite easy to get that information even an insightful perspective into taxation of the area, it's just a matter of asking the correct people or knowing where to obtain that information in the official mediums.
There is a reason why embassies exist, this is why normally few in the world are against legal migration.
You mean you read some ♥♥♥♥ online, believed it as fact, and didn't actually check that with anything substantial. Got it. And this is why we don't take opinions from people outside the US seriously. Media all over was telling you people how outrageous "egg prices" were while people in here from the US was telling you that what we've been paying for them has been substantially lower than the claims.
Are you seriously going to take the word of someone from New Zealand (allegedly), or some media outlet trying to sell a clickbait headline over actual Americans who shop for groceries in the US? Media lies all the time. The more outrageous their content, the more clicks and views they get, the more revenue they generate. Pay attention to the people actually buying stuff.
