the idea and character is there, but what's on the screen is dubious at best. worth a time as a curiosity imo.

Most of the transformers are just random robots, but I quite liked Hot Rod and Cogman.

They aren't random at all. Wheeljack is a mechanic who fixes cars, Blur moves really fast, Ironhide is tough in combat, hot rod is a hot rod, they are literally the opposite of random.
