I have many stories and I will share but I am more interested in you right now.

I was tasked to review data retrieval for certain info from our database as a page was slow to load. I went through all the table joins date limits, etc and it was only slightly faster. Then I added indexing to the correct columns. Boom! literally retrieved and built the page instantly each time it was requested. My reward was moving on to the next interesting task and no bugs were discovered later.

One time I had an "important" wine pairing I had to cook for a wine blog that was reviewing the place and the vegetables I was roasting for them burned while I was picking herbs from the garden so in the 30 minutes or so I had left to come up with an alternative I fire roasted some apples, hit'em with a honey thyme glaze and they went really well with the rest of the dish and it got lots of praise.

Once I was walking through the forest, I saw an old polish man fishing, I asked him how he was doing and how his day was going and he gave me a cigarette, which was great cause I was 14 and couldn't buy them. Anyways I go away and about my life, but the forest is on my way home. So I decided to check in on the old man. Turns out the local gang didn't like him fishing in their spot, so they broke his rod, beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of him and told him to ♥♥♥♥ off forever. I have never seen that man again.
