Is it me or is the steam deck a little overhyped?
I’ve been looking to sell my switch oled for a switch 2 this coming Christmas (because the switch 2 is basically a better version of the switch 1 and can run most of the games at higher framerates), but I keep getting bombarded with people telling me to just get a steam deck instead. They keep on emphasizing how it’s so superior to the switch 2, even though I’m just looking for a system to play the latest Nintendo games on and for something that I just can plug and play instead of fiddling around with systems.

I’ve looked at the steam deck, and to me, it just looks like another gaming pc, except in handheld form. I’m already someone with a gaming laptop, and everything the steam deck can do, a laptop seems to be able to do it just better. Not to mention, it feels heavier to hold than even the switch 2.

I’ve mostly been using my laptop for intense gaming sessions and my switch for more casual sessions while in bed. Personally I just don’t see what’s the big deal with the steam deck as someone with a laptop.

Only if you cripple it with windoze.
Just imagine trying to type something as large and detailed as you just did... with the Deck's on-screen keyboard(or that keyboard wheel if thats still around). If you get a deck its probably best to only use it for games.

Early on, the onscreen keyboard was almost useless, but it's been patched to be more responsive and accurate.

That said, it's a nightmare trying to edit a config file without any ctrl or alt or del keys. Who's the git who decided there should be a dedicated emoji menu button, but not them?
If you only use it to play PC games it's overhyped. Steam Deck is good for emulation if you install EmuDeck. Also, it's a Linux PC, so you can use web-browsers. You can also get a dock and hook it up to a TV or monitor with keyboard/mouse.
