Al Capone did nothing wrong
He gave us the booze, fed the hungry and even paid people's bills what couldn't afford it. If that's a gangster, what's a congressman?

Unlike Al Capone, a congressman gets paid to sit in their government castle building and do nothing all day.

After eating and coming back to the keyboard, this notion has disturbing merit.
The real moral of the story is to stop playing smallball and to think BIG.

If one does an act of violence it is criminal. Kill someone and one is a murderer. Do it to multiple people and one can escalate to being a serial killer.

But do it to thousands or millions and one can be a national hero with statues and a mythology created that one does not question or people will start whining about cancel culture.

Rob a liquor store and go to prison. Rob the public on a national scale and become part of the privileged establishment that gets worshipped as geniuses, is not questioned and enjoys impunity for their actions.

Bonus:

The difference between Donald Dump and "mainstream" bribetaking politicians like Sleepy Joe Biden is Donald Dump is using the presidency to violate the constitution and the law to enrich himself. He will openly rob his own supporters blind as they love being conned. He will screw over the people who bribe him. He has spent a lifetime getting away with it.

A "mainstream" bribetaker like Biden would just get along to go along and do whatever it takes to enrich the mega corporations and nobody question anything. Just get your head down in the phone and obey the corporate norm.
He didn't get treatment for syphilis, that was his downfall.

I watched it live.

That was one of the all-time letdowns.
Capone broke the law. And the law won.

Change the law first.
Politicians are gangsters, there's no difference.

The difference is if one goes BIG enough, we can do things like funnel the money through a political party and it's legal.

See, bribery isn't always as blatant as a suitcase full of cash.

A billionaire has a stupid kid. No problem. We just generously donate a building and their kid just so happens to get an exception.

A "mainstream" clean politician may take no suitcases full of cash. Their kids are handed cushy jobs. They leave office and get handed book deals for books written by ghostwriters and large cash bonuses. They can serve on corporate boards and never show, be given lavish speaking fees despite having nothing to say on speaking tours...

And for your post; you have earned this one!

I hear you. But Capone scoffed at the law. And the law won.

I want to follow the law. Or change the law. Simple as, Apollo.

You still have a preference between two outcomes.
He was a fine American specimen.

Yes. That is very true.

And we shouldn't gloss over the bad things that he did.

Again, most of mythology is a big load of you-know-what.
