What is your favourite part of the UK?
(Disclaimer: This is NOT a thread about politics. Go somewhere else to discuss politics.)

Personally I like Yorkshire and most of Northern England/Scotland. Lots of picturesque hills, and mountains. Sometimes you forget that you aren’t living in The Lord of The Rings :steamlaughcry:

The people up here are nice too. Lots of little towns and villages and cottages (as well as the occasional city or large town, but mostly stay clear of those places unless you’re looking for work or the more unsavoury sights of the country). Scotland is also home to where the exterior of Hogwarts castle is filmed if you’re into that sort of thing.

Another great place is Nottingham (technically lies within the Midlands and not the north but I’ll give it a pass). Not only is it home to the legend or Robin Hood but was also the birthplace of Warhammer and the home of Warhammer World.

My favourite place is the summit of Cat Bells in the Lake District, overlooking Keswick and Derwentwater. It's a very very lovely view from the top of there, and it's wonderfully serene. Weather permitting.

On a clear day that lake's like a perfect mirror reflecting all that is good about the world. I always remember it as the last place the world made sense to me, and it's where I always go back to when I need it to make sense once again.

I agree with the places chosen above, but I also don't particularly like UK places in general: they are too mundane, too tamed, too grey.

The Peak District area. I live here now and the air is clean the people are nice. There is mile after mile of rugged terrain, rolling dales and valleys. Great for walking my woofer. We are surrounded by fields, farms and open space. The worst part is that the internet speed is awful. The closest city to me is Derby and that is where Lara Croft and Tomb Raider started.

Don't forget Yorkshire also has the steam railway used in the first Harry Potter movie as well as Hogsmeade station. :rabiLaugh:

Oh nice, I never new Tomb Raider was originally English :steamhappy:
I was also recently shocked to learn that Rockstar (RDR and GTA) is also Scottish.

Pembrokeshire because the waters aren't fitty below and no crowds.

The ports are very beautiful, especially while sailing away from the UK and seeing it in your rearview mirror.
Seeing how bad it can get on youtube. Genuinely enjoy watching the misery.

The local women used to be the BEST in the world.

Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. America simply cannot produce these types anymore.

So, most of my social activity- especially of a certain sort- is with tourists these days.
The Constitutional/Limited Monarchy, I guess? (I've never been there, I'll admit. But the Head of State of the UK and several other countries is pretty interesting.)
The various British accents are also interesting.
