Is Japan a U.S. Colony?
yes or no

origin of debate:
https://youtube.com/shorts/6k5HcNdvSo4?si=jAtK4SagRf7NManq

Yamamoto argued in a Diet session that Japan is effectively “a colony of the United States” because, in his view, Tokyo cannot make fully independent decisions on security matters, including negotiations over the disputed Northern Territories (the southern Kuril Islands) with Russia. He said Russia has refused to return the islands partly out of concern that, if they were handed back, the United States could demand the right to establish military bases there under the US‑Japan security arrangements, and that Japan could not simply refuse such a move.

Yes and it should remain that way.

Better question:
Is the U.S a Japanese colony?
Considering the sheer amount of English words* in anime, I must say that it is.

*- I don't mean words like "internet", but everyday words that they surely have in their own language.
"Fantasitikuru!" "A-mei-zin!" "Boifurendu", etc

Wouldn’t that mean that both are English colonies?
