Is the PC version still preferable in this situation?

Agree, it's easy to skip kernel level anticheat games. There are so many great single player games, older classics, high quality indies, and some decent Valve multiplayer games, so I see no reason at all to feel like I have to submit to something as intrusive as kernel level anti-cheat because there are so many other great options.
