Do you think liberal policies are responsible for increases in crime?
Maybe there is a way to reduce crime rates if the policies are harsher...

Of course. The soft-on-crime dogma of the Left does nothing but encourage criminals and would-be criminals.

Why follow the law if there are no consequences for breaking it? Laws only exist if they are enforced and there are real consequences for breaking them.

There are people who were arrested for 50 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times and they are still walking the streets?! That's so retarded! PUT' EM IN JAIL ALREADY!

Build more jails, start actually putting people in jail, and the crime rates will go down.

lol how goes that American prison system?

Yes. Harsher policies are the only answer to rising crime, but it also causes a massive increase in the prison population, which becomes costly to maintain.
A cultural change is necessary to address the issue with crime, but that's a long term solution.

Ivan Bates is a nice example. Baltimore has been taking a liberal soft on crime approach for the last 2 decades and their crime rates exploded. Bates comes along with the novel suggestion that criminals should actually be arrested and charged and bam, murder rates drop by 63% within a couple of years.

Laws must be abided, and must be more strict and more punishing.

"animals" will keep doing things if they know they can easily get away with it.

Obviously. Defunding the police. Selectively enforcing law. Decriminalizing things that should land people in jail. Keeping borders open.

Tolerating crime = Normalizing it and making it proliferate.

Definitely. The criminal justice system in big blue cities favors the criminal over the victim. A weak criminal justice system removes deterrence, increases recidivism, increases fear, and reduces unity in the community.

And it's easy to see who weakened the laws, defunded the police, implemented cashless bail, installed soft-on-crime district attorneys and judges, etc.

It's a classic case of the lesser of two evils. Should we protect the criminals or the law abiding citizens?

Crime follows poverty. The poorest states are red states and as a result they have the highest crime rates.

Crime follows poverty.
That is not proven or even provable. It is an article of faith.

No, specific policies have an impact on crime, not ideology. Good employment rates, good jobs, education, data driven policing with high conviction rate is probably better than harsher penalties.
I dont know. Is there more crime in California or Utah?
Day 1 30. nov. kl. 10:33
The highest crime rate in the US is the District of Columbia (1,005.5 per 100k in 2024). :O

If anyone can remember I posted a thread a couple of years back in regards to a murder of liberal women in Oakland. The woman's name was Jan Angel and in 2023 she was robbed of her purse. She then chased the robber in a attempt too get her property back but as he jumped into car driven by another man. She some how got caught on the car and dragged along. As the suspect drove away, she was dragged about 50 feet before she became free.

She lay in a coma for 3 days before succumbing to her injuries. That's bad enough but on top of this, her friends and family didn't even want the suspect jailed. Instead they wanted restorative justice instead. You can't make this BS up.

Anyway, he was only jailed for 7 years.

"The sentencing comes despite the wishes of Angel's family and friends, who sought a restorative justice framework for the now 20-year old.

They issued a statement Friday saying, "We know that Jen would not want someone involved in her death, whether complicit or not, to waste away in prison for decades, and we take some comfort in knowing Ishmael has a chance to repair some of the harm he has caused."

Brain damage and cultural (eg media) exposure can also encourage criminality.

State by state comparisons don't really work. The main drivers of crime in the US are things that it is against the rules to mention on the steam forums, and basically the less of those things you have the lower your crime rate. It is also why the crime rate is lower when you compare democrat to republican, because the democrat north east has very little of the things in question.
