It's not a terrible show. I watched the first two seasons when they came out and enjoyed them but never kept up. With the hullabaloo around the final season and it's release I decided to try it again and realized it's not for me.

The horror and suspense elements are perfect but where I am turned off is with the personal lives of the characters. I don't have much interest in any of them. I guess I'm over most "coming of age" stories.

Love the acting, though, it's really great for the most part and the characters are nice and fun, but I just want something more mature and gritty.

I've already got True Detective on the list, giving Twin Peaks a shot and maybe Dark. Are there any other cerebral spooky fun shows to check out? Weird is good. Lynch, Arnofsky, and Von Trier are solid jumping off points for reference of the taste I'm looking for.

Twin Peaks is one of my all-time favorites so definitely worth trying out.
Could try Fringe altough after first two seasons the quality drops a lot imho and it gets kinda confusing.

Twin Peaks has been on the list forever. I tried it a decade or so ago but I don't think I was in the right headspace but Lynch is definitely my thing when I can actually relax lol started the pilot last night and the range of styles and moods in just the first 30 minutes is pretty incredible.

My younger sister watches Twin Peaks a lot dese days.

Love Super 8. Haven't watched IT, I'll give it a go at some point but the murder of children might throw me off. Had that problem with Doctor Sleep, really made me ill and bummed.

It went downhill from what I understand, enough that Disney canceled their joint venture with Dr. Who. From the commercials I saw of the last Doctor, the director should of been doing a Rocky Horror remake instead of Dr. Who.

It sounds like Capaldi ended up being well received but I didn't like his first series. He was too grim. Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith all had a lot of dynamic shifts in tone throughout and I enjoyed the ups and downs, felt a lot more impactful. Didn't care for Clara either. I guess I'll never return to it.

I've only seen bits of it, but HBO's old Carnivale show might fit the vibe.

No problem! IIRC the most common complaint is that it was cancelled too soon. I guess that's a good sign.
