Hehe!
The idea is fine, who doesn't want an "everything" space game.
The monetization practices are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ beyond defense though, so, there's that.
Out of the big 4, it's likely the only one I'll never touch.
That and, as mentioned, he's likely pretty deep in the investment hole on this project that has gone far beyond it's original estimated development time frame. Which means that stringing investors along, and milking players, may be the only way to actually get money out of the situation, which, if that's the case, isn't exactly giving a lot of confidence towards the intent of design decisions.
If the game ever releases to an actual 1.0, and it gets good reviews, and there's not filthy monetization within it (I feel like there will be), then I'd be willing to give it a shot. That said, my faith in the project, and it's actual intent, isn't high.
I like games that are trying to be games, not stores. I've been on the fence for Elite Dangerous for a few years now because of it's monetization practices, and they're arguably much tamer than Star Citizen's.
There's already filthy monetisation to an extent I have never seen before, and the game isn't even finished!
They're selling game "packages", ships, paints, gear, merchandise and even have two different monthly subscriptions you can purchase, not to mention the ability to purchase in-game credits.
This is the biggest gaming grift the industry has ever seen and likely will ever see.
I keep playing real games like X.
