Who Would Actually Eat From Remy? Ratatouille

Well, people would eat meat grown in a lab. It wouldn't surprise me, but I'd not stand for it though.
I don’t believe the creators of the cartoon made the chef a rat by accident. They knew that rats are strongly associated with disease, filth, and garbage, and that food prepared by them would normally seem repulsive. But Remy is an anthropomorphic character, and the story works as a metaphor. It encourages us to judge creators not by their identity or origin, but by the quality of their work. Moreover, the film makes it clear that Remy carefully observes hygiene.

Why wouldn't I? Remy usually isn't even handling the food: Alfredo Linguini is the one who does that. Remy just directs him using his hair like giant mecha robot levers, specifically because of anti-rat prejudice. Besides, it's not like Remy is diseased even if he is touching the food, and just before he meets Linguini he is seen observing proper hygiene by washing his paws before handling the food. Truth be told, you can probably trust Remy better than some people. Haven't you seen Kitchen Nightmares, or heard of people spitting in the food because of inadequate tipping? Also, the message of the movie isn't merely the explicit statement anybody can cook, but the implicit underpinning not to exercise prejudice over people because of what they are.

However it is also important that regardless of what the message of the movie is supposed to be, Ratatouille is just a fictional movie, and a sentient rat like Remy just doesn't exist.
