I think it's probably a bad idea to wrap a building in bamboo. As for the motive, why don't we just wait and see?

Anyways, we have been using bamboo scaffoldings in construction and renovation of high-rises everyday for over hundred years. It's a traditoin. The shift to metal has started recently but it's very slow.

Yep, wise move, and same here. I used to live on 1st story of apartment in so called ring of fire area and that was bad enough with earthquakes for me. Not to mention the nuisance false alarm fire evacuations when someone microwaves water at 4am. I vowed to myself never again.

I felt bad for those nearby, my relatives are in Hong Kong. It's most likely a rare accident as they've been using bamboo since I can remember.

I would be interested to see if investigations are able to pinpoint how it started.

Its also that cladding. Reminds me of the Grenfell tower fire. They also said styrofoam was used to cover windows and that was really flammable.
