Essential games for the Steam Deck?
Might be getting one soon. What do you consider an absolutely essential game to have on it? So it doesn't end up simply as my Caves of Qud device.

Edit: Happy with any genre you enjoy! I do like Dark Fantasy (souls like etc) and maybe Indie Retro Horror like Signalis.

I would recommend old school platforms jumping games, like dead cell or such, on a hand held .I haven't had much experience with hand held device.

No precision shooters. The trackpads are better than analog sticks, but still useless for shooters that need mouse and keyboard.

Adventure stuff like Subnautica is okay.

I loved Shovel Knight. I enjoyed the Plague Knight DLC but didn't play the others.

I had one of those ROG Allys when they first came out but found most games either too tiny to see or tricky to control. So I ended up playing platformers. I got lucky and refunded it after about a month because of the sd cards heating up. Anyway Hollow Knight was really good on it.
