I think so yeah. These days, there really is zero reason to go console. That ended with ps4 at the very latest.

I'm good with my PS5 thanks. When that thing will be truely and entirely outdated to the point I cannot play games I care about... Then I'll think about maybe buying a Steam Machine.

I dunno about destroyer, but it has the potential to deal a pretty serious blow to the console market.

Especially considering the next generation of console might very well be much much more expensive than the last. To a point where people like me might be tempted to just buy a Steam Machine even if it's less powerful. What it lacks in power it has in flexibility.

But, anyway, not my concern atm since I already got a PS5 and I intent to use it as much as I possibly can before I switch platform. Just sharing what I think might hurt consoles the most with this.

The last console I bought was PS4 and I played Bloodbourne for about 200 hours. Got GTA, played 5 hours, it was trash, never touched that console again.

With all the online stuff and subscirptions, it makes no sense for me to get a console. I can do all that on PC.

Also there has not been a relevant "console only" game in years.

Price is gonna be a big issue for these things for a while. But who knows with the quality of the next gen of consoles. The GabeCube might actually make Snoy and Micro$oft put some actual effort into their next gen hardware.

Current gen consoles should hold up for a while anyway. The GabeCube could also turn out to be a complete failure.

It may be a destroyer for other consoles, but there are reasons to stick with PC, at least for me. I don't want anything tethering me to the internet.

In a word, no. I will likely be purchasing the new Steam Console. But if Xbox is going the same route, with access to all those games Xbox users already have and want access too, including Game Pass AND Steam i can't see how they will defect.

Sony as well with their Exclusives. Nobody seems to budge from PS.

And then you have the sports markets Steam is not really accustomed.

Def a welcome addition, but not a console killer.
