Being nice isn’t the same as being good. Niceness is superficial behavior, like being polite, avoiding conflict, and making others feel comfortable. Being good, or kind, means doing what is right, even when it is inconvenient, unpopular, or goes unnoticed. Telling someone “you’re right” when they’re clearly mistaken is nice. Telling them the truth respectfully, even if it upsets them, is good.
