yeah i fixed mine a while back, reapplied new thermal pads, dusted it out, and put in a new set of fans that are not only better, but whisper quiet. might be a double edged sword - if the fans ever fail i'll never hear it.

good news is, i've yet to see one of these fans fail in over 10 years of installing them. so that's good news.

i know how difficult it is to solder small components without super zoom goggles but if you just are liberal with the flux, you wont overheat the unit with the heat gun / solder pencil - the flux tells you when things are getting too hot..might be a better idea than risking setting one's house on fire... but just a suggestion.

i hope i never have to go that far to fix it, but i have had to take the xbox 360 apart 4 times
